Friday
I went to see the Vagina Monologues with T. It was put on by the Women's Center at Laurier - the school I'd like to go to, I've decided. Walking through the halls toward the club where the show was playing put me at ease. It felt right, being there. Put the 'back-to-school' bee back into my bonnet. The back-to-school plans were put on hold after a series of financial disasters, but we are getting back on track even more rapidly than we thought we would (quitting smoking will do wonders for your finances), so it's time to start making phone calls and applying for loans.
The show itself was really well done. I laughed a lot, which is a good sign. It was really good the way the writer placed really serious tidbits of information into what was a very lighthearted series of monologues. I was given a lot to think about.
After the show, T and I met S at the Grill where he treated us to dinner. Tarma and I parted ways, and S and I headed home, where we cuddled up and watched The Constant Gardener.
The Constant Gardener was nothing I expected. It was a bit choppy in the beginning, which made me grateful that we'd recorded it on the PVR. I watched the beginning several times over so I could be sure I understood what was going on. The rest of the movie flowed flawlessly, and broke my heart. S's, too. The movie made me feel, mostly, like I was wasting my life - like there's so much happening that I don't know about, that I would be completely devestated by if I did know - and there's a part of me that wants to know, wants to do something about it, though what I could do, I couldn't begin to tell you.
I'm not going to say anymore about the movie except to say that it's worth renting. I was really moved by it. Not sure if that counts for anything, since I was also moved by "In Her Shoes", but, hey. There you have it.
Saturday
Played basketball with the Kidlet's on Saturday - well, ok. I watched and took pictures. S played ball with them. It was awesome watching them get along so well. Teenaged boys are weird. They love each other dearly, but they jibe and poke each other *all the time*. It's like the more they love each other, the more they tease each other. I'll never understand them.
I'll be uploading some really wonderful shots of them this evening when I get home from work.
Last night I went to a stag & doe for H&J, who started and maintain the Kitchener/Waterloo Pagan Temple. I'm not a member, but I'm on the KW Pagan's list, and do make it out to functions now and then. Last night's stag & doe included the Dragon Ritual Drummers from Niagra. They *rocked*. I danced my arse off to the point where I feel it in my thighs and bum today. Phew! I didn't sleep well, either. The drums got me all worked up and wired, so I had a hard time coming back down to earth once I got home.
M (one of my best girlfriends) and her husband, R (a co-worker and good friend) were there as well, and it was really nice to hang out with them. S came by after he finished his shift at the Grill, and though he didn't dance (hurt his ankle playing ball with the boys), he still had a really good time. I have pictures of the drummers and dancers that I'll upload later as well.
Fun, fun weekend. I want more like this!

If memories could be canned, would they also have expiry dates? If so, I hope they last for centuries.
